For updates for the borough of bay head website: http://www.bayheadnj.org/bhnj/ Food distribution for responders and town members is at the bay head recycling center near the corner of bay ave and park ave. the town has road blocks in and they are only allowing individuals with I'd proving residency. There have been many volunteers and donaters and we are very thankful. So is everyone who has been able to get a hot meal. The town water is trickling in for a large section of town, but it is unclear when power will be back on. The gas has also been turned back on, but many appliances (heat, hot water heaters) were destroyed. At least 35 homes have been condemned so far. We are coordinating those that can volunteer, those that are willing to donate, those who need help clearing their homes out, etc. There is much work left to be done, but we are on our way. This town may never quite look the same, but we will recover. For now, we are focused on the essentials, but sooner than we realize we will need more. Many of these homes are only first story homes and they lost basically everything. Some were lucky, but not one piece of property was left untouched. If you are interested in donating home items, etc., please contact us. We expect to keep using the recycling center as a distribution point, as it was the only borough building that did not flood. Please understand that we will need to stagger the arrival of donations since we do have limited space. Thank you!
